EVENT COORDINATORS speak about Key to Life:

Thanks for making it possible for Shannon to come, as well as working with us on the budget to make it affordable for us. I appreciate all you both did for this event and am blessed by you guys. Shannon exhibits the heart of God. Her music touched our hearts deeply. Her honestly and openness reveals her love for the Lord and her willingness to be shaped by Him. The students at our event were moved by her and we hope to have her back at other youth events. ~ Rusty Freeman, ReachingYouth.org

Shannon has a deep heart for those who are hurting. She can look into the hearts of students and see that there is a need for love, acceptance, and healing. It would be great for anybody to have Shannon at their event to speak. My students really responded in a real positive way to what she was saying.
- Rev. John Bodine, Minister to Students, First Baptist Church of Lake Charles

She is definitely one (of the 100 females in treatment at Remuda) can relate to. It is encouraging to see somebody who has battled the same things and then has the skills and talents to be able to sing about it. What's important is the way she conveys in her music and her speaking that she needed to make a decision to really allow a change to take place and to have the courage that it takes to make some of those changes.
- Henry Rojas, Chaplain/Director, Remuda Ranch Treatment Center

Hi- Thanks again for all of your grace and love- You made yesterday a diamond day for us!
- Kerry Hammett, Youth Director, Canyon Lake UMC

I haven't seen the students so well behaved and attentive in a very long time with a special speaker. You definitely have a special gift for communicating with youth - thank you so much for the CD's, and for coming and sharing your story with our students!
- Dawn Ashley, Teacher & Director, Maricopa High School/The Prevention Center

We just want to extend an overdue thank you. Thank you so much for the help and consideration you have extended to our girls. We are forever grateful for the time you have invested with our girls. Our staff is driven by the desire to help young women with eating disorders, and thanks to you our recent girls' retreat was an unbelievable success. Your music and testimony will always remind our patients to be strong, and that the road to recovery is possible.
- Patti Mandrell, M.Ed., LPC, EAP III, Program Director, Cadwalder Behavioral Clinics

I think your message on eating disorders, and the freedom past that cycle of shame, is a needed message to young people (and old.) I also thought it an important part when you spoke of the power you found to effect change, having been stirred by your KEY – students found it helpful to get permission to have passion about something, like you and your music.
- Jim Kelley, Teacher, Houston Christian High School

Our evangelism team invited Shannon and her band to our church for one reason. We were interested in ministry that offers creative evangelism and believed that Shannon's personal testimony and ministry proclaims the Gospel with authencity and boldness in a way that appeals and inspires - especially children, youth, and families. When Shannon speaks of God's redeeming love that heals and sets free, she challenges others to fully accept what Christ did on the cross and to fully receive Christ's life-changing love and power. Months later, some of our children are still singing Shannon's songs. Her ministry moved one beautiful youngster to share her faith with renewed zeal, sharing, "Mommy, I will never doubt that God loves me again."
- Reverend Pamela Jackson, Associate Pastor, John Wesley United Methodist Church

Shannon, on behalf of the entire church family of Spring Woods UMC, I want to thank you for your part in leading our worship services on Sunday! Your music and the witness of your life helped me to better see the grace and wonder of God. I look forward to seeing you back this way in December! In Christ's love,
- Bill Gandin, Senior Pastor, Spring Woods UMC

You have a powerful testimony and I thank you for being so open and sharing it. What a treat for the kids. I have had several excited CSP students telling me how excited they were to get your CD. In short, thank you so much again and God bless. I'll definitely be praying for you and your ministry.
- Gail Phillips, Teacher, York Junior High

Shannon, Thank you for your wonderful message and leadership. Our kids are still raving about how wonderful the weekend was and how much they appreciated and enjoyed you. Thank you for allowing God to use your gifts in such a positive and meaningful way.
- Steve Angle, Director of Music and Youth, Buda UMC

Shannon, I would like to thank you for speaking to our Junior High students at West Rusk Jr. High. My daughter, an eighth grader, really appreciated your assembly. Once again, thank you.
- Steve Boyd, Minister to Students, London Baptist Church

We all had a great time and really enjoyed Shannon and the event.  What a wonderful person and artist! We sure enjoyed it! I was amazed at the intuition she possesses with regard to speaking with people as well. That is such an asset when counseling and sharing. Blessings,
- Raymond Steiner, Lake Charles, La House Concert Series

Dear Shannon, Thank you very much for speaking to our Men-of-Action breakfast group. We really enjoyed your music. I heard many favorable comments about your talk. Someone said they really appreciated hearing your message, especially what it means for the young people that you serve. The work that you do for the young people that you speak to is very valuable, as we hear so much about those problems so often in the media. Shannon, you are a real inspiration, and I wish you all of God's blessings and great success. Very truly yours,
- Jerry Clark, Program Chairman, Men of Action

Words cannot express my gratitude to you for coming out to Westside last week and sharing your "passion" with our students. We as a society spend so much time, money and energy on what we think kids need to succeed such as reading, writing, and 'rithmatic.....that we forget about the social/mental health issues that are so important in the development of healthy coping skills and in the ability to make the right choices in life. I personally say "thank you with all my heart".
- Janet Thies, Social Worker, Westside High School

STUDENTS speak about Key to Life:

Shannon, you are a wonderful speaker. I somehow listen in a different way than I do usually. I can't explain in words how much you have already inspired me in just one hour. I have this feeling that I'm going to be thinking later in my life about what you're saying to me. I'm thinking about it now too. This sounds corny but it's true – you have a special, beyond special gift to talk and influence people. I admire your talking and your singing. I want to hear you talk more. You are a wonderful person.

You truly are an amazing woman. You have helped me so much. I will hang in there and never ever give up. I hope that we can hang out at some point and I can give you a really big hug and a million thanks! You are the only person that I have ever come in contact with that has recovered from an eating disorder. You are a true inspiration to me. I know that I can make it. Thanks for being there for young woman like me. You make dealing with this illness a lot easier and I appreciate that so much!

This evening has shed light on what my good friend is facing and what I myself have the potential of facing in the future. Thank you sooo much. God definitely brought you here for a lot of women but there was a specific one in the audience who was here to understand what she is going through and see the hope!

I am listening to your CD right now and I absolutely love it. You are wonderful and so talented! I just wanted to thank you again X1000 for coming to speak with us. It meant more to me than you might know. You're so sweet and kind and your words were very inspirational and so helpful.

Hi, I am a university student, and I want to thank you for speaking about eating disorders. I've been struggling with both Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa for 5 years now...and the struggle still goes on. I think it's great of you to talk about the disorders, because too many people are unaware. So thank you!!!

I received your cd today - thank you so much....I put your cd in at the end of the day - it was relaxing and calmed me down after a long day with the kids. Thanks again and I wish you all the success in the world. You have a beautiful voice and are truly a talented woman!

You did an awesome job speaking at our school. I am not personally struggling but I have friends and family members who are. Thanks sooo much for being such an awesome influence…I know you have touched so many people’s lives and God brought you here for a reason.

I am so glad you were able to be here this week. Your words and music were extremely beautiful and moving. There has never been a female speaker while I was here and I loved having you and being able to relate really well. You are truly gifted and I hope you will continue doing what you do for a long time! Thank you so much!

Shannon, thank you so much! For as long as I can remember, we've had male speakers here and it's been so wonderful to hear a woman speak so freely about her faith, her joys and sorrows. Thank you again for your willingness to say whatever God has called you to say. God bless & much love!

Shannon - Thank you so much for spending this week with us! It has been so refreshing and inspiring to hear witness from a female - with a message I can relate to. I pray that God keeps you strong in your journey and that He brings you back to our part of Texas. Thank you for your beautiful words, songs and voice. Bless you! Love always.
